Is Luan influenced by Lua or influenced by Java?

The website says it is "Lua-like" but also "implemented in Java". Also what generation is this language? I assume 4GL.

Luan is based on Lua but has some Java influence because of the implemenation.  For example the data types come from Java.

I don't think in term of 4GL.  Luan is in the same class as Lua and Python.
